The Boxer is a breed of medium-sized, short-haired dogs. The Boxer was bred from the Old English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser, and is part of the Molosser group. Their coat is smooth and tight-fitting. They need to be groomed once a week. Colors are fawn or brindled, with or without white markings, which may cover the entire body, and white. The head is the most distinctive feature of the Boxer. They have very powerful jaws, and have one of the longest dog tongues. Their lifespan ranges between 10 to 12 years. Boxers are a bright, energetic and playful breed and tend to be very good with children. They are active, strong dogs and require an adequate 30 minute exercise to prevent boredom. By nature, The Boxer is not an aggressive or vicious breed. It is an instinctive guardian and usually becomes very attached to its family. Like all dogs, it requires proper socialization.
